Late Rally Falls Short for UT Lacrosse
February 4, 2018The visiting Texas A&M Aggies handily defeated the UT Longhorns 14-11 on beautiful pre-Super Bowl Sunday afternoon.
The Aggies controlled nearly every aspect of the game, except shots-on-goals which the Longhorns led 39-32. The Aggies controlled the face-offs, taking 20 of 29, and converted on 2 of 3 power plays. Longhorn failed to convert on one power play. Texas A&M also benefited from a questionable call by the officials that gave the Aggies a goal on a shot that appeared to hit the post.
Auggie Buerkle had a double-hat trick for the Aggies. AJ Hepting and GW Bodden each had hat tricks for Texas A&M. John King contributed a hat trick for the Longhorns. Charlie Highum added two goals for UT. Marco Robertson earned the win for the Aggies.
Texas falls to 1-1 on the season and 0-1 in the Lone Star Alliance Division 1. Texas A&M dominates the Division early in the season, going 3-0 overall and 2-0 in the division. The Aggies had out-scored their opponents 46 to 28.
Texas next faces the University of California - Berkeley on the road on February 9.
