The 2024 Moto3 Grand Prix of the Americas, held on April 14 at the Circuit of the Americas (COTA) in Austin, Texas, was a race of two halves.  While chaos erupted behind him, David Alonso of the CFMoto Valresa Aspar team secured a dominant victory from start to finish.

Alonso, who secured his first pole position earlier that weekend, launched a superb start, immediately establishing a comfortable lead.  This left the battle for the remaining podium positions wide open. Unfortunately, the fight for second place quickly turned into a scramble for position, with numerous riders making contact and crashing out – including some involved in incidents right from the very first turn..

The drama continued throughout the race, with several riders forced to take penalty loops for various infringements.  This added to the frantic pace, with the chasing pack constantly changing positions.  Ultimately, Alonso was untroubled at the front, taking the checkered flag with a commanding lead.

Behind Alonso, the race for the remaining podium positions was a thrilling battle.  In the end, it was rookies Daniel Holgado and Joel Kelso who emerged from the pack to secure second and third place respectively. Holgado, starting from 18th on the grid, displayed exceptional riding to carve his way through the field.  Kelso, another impressive rookie, showed his potential with a strong performance..

The 2024 Moto3 Grand Prix of the Americas provided a thrilling spectacle, with a mixture of strategic riding and dramatic crashes.  However, it was David Alonso's dominant display from pole to podium that stole the show,  giving him a significant confidence boost in the 2024 Moto3 World Championship.
