Kero’s Hat Trick Thrusts Stars Over Penguins

Tanner Kero tallied his second career hat trick to lead the Texas Stars (18-17-2-2) over the Wilke-Barre/Scranton Penguins (18-16-3-3) by a final score of 5-2.  The Stars extend their win-stream to five games and are undefeated in 2020.

Additional scoring for the Stars came from Anthony Louis with a goal and an assist, and Joel L’Esperance with a goal.  Wilke-Barre/Scranton’s goals came from Kevin Roy and Adam Johnson.

Kero has found his rhythm, scoring seven points (4-3=7) in the last three games and 12 points (5-7=12) in his last nine outings.  The center leads all forwards on the Stars with 13 assists this season and is second on the club overall.

Jake Oettinger earned the win between the posts for the Stars.  Oettinger made 18 saves on 20 shots.  Penguins’ goaltender Casey DeSmith was kept very busy, facing 36 shots and successfully defending 32.
