Magic back as Express top River Cats 6 - 1

A twinkle of magic returned to the Round Rock Express as they topped the Sacramento River Cats on Sunday.  The Express were flying high this season until injuries to key players on the Texas Rangers resulted in the call-up of foundational players.  Season-to-date, only two of the original starters have played continuously, and there has been greater than 150 roster changes.  Chi Chi Gonzalez pitched brilliantly for seven innings, allowing one run on six hits, and coolly worked out of several tight situations. Back also was the sure-handed fielding of Hanser Alberto.  The former Rawlings Minor League Gold Glove Award appeared distracted mid-season, but was back with two big plays that impressed the fans, and his teammates.  Hanser also went 2-for-4, with one RBI.  Also going 2-for-4 was the new face, Carlos Arroyo, who got his first hit in an Express uniform.  The only soft spot on the performance was Justin Ruggiano who did not play.  The softhearted Ruggiano was out-bartered by a young fan, exchanging two baseballs for a pint of ice cream.  Yes is was that hot… first pitch temperature was 99 degrees.
