Aston Martin Vantage also takes LM GTE Am Class at Lone Star Le Mans World Endurance Championship

The Aston Martin Racing Team, consisting of Paul Dalla Lana, Pedro Lamy and Mathias Lauda won the LMGTE-AM classification of the FIA World Endurance Championship held at the Circuit of the Americas this weekend.  The Porsche team came in second, driven by Christian Ried, Wolf Henzler and Joël Camathias.  And the Chevrolet Corvette team consisting of Lars Viljoen, Pierre Ragues and Ricky Taylor came in third. 

 Better known locally as Lone Star Le Mans, the event brings teams from across the globe. The contest comes to nine location, starting in Silverstone, UK, stopping in Le Mans, France, and ending in Bahrain. The Circuit of the Americas, located in Austin, Texas, is the only US race. The race is primarily driven at night.

 The World Endurance Championship is actually four races in one. The Le Mans Grand Touring Endurance car (LM GTE) is a car having an aptitude for sport with 2 doors, opened or closed roof, which can be used legally on the open road. This category includes two groups: (1) Professional drivers (LMGTE-PRO) and (2) Amateurs drivers (LMGTE-AM).
