Toluca over Santos Laguna in Penalty Kicks

Liga MX returned to the Dell Diamond for the third year.  The baseball park quickly transformed into a soccer pitch during the four day All Star break.  Play this year was between the Deportivo Toluca Fútbol Club S.A. de C.V. (Toluca) and Club Santos Laguna S.A. de C.V. (Santos Laguna).  The Liga MX is the top level of the Mexican football league system and is considered the strongest in North America, and among the strongest in all of Latin America.  The Liga MX professional league is between seasons.

The teams played to a 2-2 draw in regulation.  Julio Fruch tallied both goals for the Santos.  Gabriel Hauche scored the the tying goal for Toluca in the 56th minute of play.  Toluca dominated in the shoot-out, ultimately beating Santos Laguna 4-2.
