Stars over Rampage: Picture Perfect Come from Behind Victory

The games between the Texas Stars (33-22-7-3) and the San Antonio Rampage (31-25-10-0) have become somewhat routine.  Tonight’s match-up was the eleventh of fourteen between the teams this season.  But this game was anything put routine.  It was a tightly fought defensive battle that featured a dramatic come from behind victory.

Zach Sanford of San Antonio scored the first goal of the game, but not until 19:31 of the second period.  Texas had a chance to tie at 0:42 in the third period on a penalty shot by Roope Hintz, but Spencer Martin deftly defended the attempt.  Denis Gurianov of Texas did tie the game at 5:45, and Sheldon Dries scored the go-ahead goal for the Stars at 9:03 of the final frame.  Final score was Austin 2, San Antonio 1.

San Antonio blasted Stars’ goalie Landon Bow with 38 shots-on-goal, 17 in the final period.  Bow stopped all but one shot.  Bow’s record improved to 20-15-10.  Spencer Martin of San Antonio was assigned the loss, allowing two goals on 18 shots.  Martin’s record feld to 14-15-4
