Express Top Dodgers in Series Opener

The Round Rock Express (36-37) brought home the positive mojo generated while on the road and defeated the Oklahoma City Dodgers (37-36) by a score of 3-to-1.  Long balls by Delino DeShields (5) and Yohel Pozo (18) accounted for two the Express’ runs. 

The Dodger’s Carlos Asuaje opened the scoring with a solo home run to right center field in the second inning. 

The Express countered in the fourth inning, starting with DeShields’ leadoff four-bagger to left field.  Yonny Hernandez drew a  walk, followed by Nick Solak’s single to left field.  Yohel Pozo’s soft fly ball single to left field loaded the bases.  Elier Hernandez’s infield grounder scored  Yonny Hernandez, giving Round Rock a 2-1 lead. 

Pozo home run came in the eighth inning, giving the Express an insurance run. 

Express starting pitcher Collin Wiles (3-1) earned the win, allowing 1 run on 2 hits in 5 innings.  Wiles struck out 3 and walked 1 batter.  Joe Gatto and Scott Engler combined for three innings of scoreless, hitless relief to earn the hold.  Jake Lemonie allowed no runs nor hits in 1 inning of work to earn the save. 

OKC starting pitcher Aaron Wilkerson (6-4) endured the loss, allowing 2 runs on 3 hits in 5 innings.  Wilkerson struck out 9 and walked 1 batter.
