Austin FC Earn Draw Against Defending Champions

Austin FC earned its fourth shutout of the season in a 0-0 draw against the  Columbus Crew before a capacity crowd of 20,738 at Q2 Stadium.  The draw against the defending MLS Cup Champions could be seen as a positive sign, but the Austin FC fans are longing to see the team’s first goal and first win at Q2 Stadium.  

Austin controlled the pace of the match, leading in time of possession (57 to 43 minutes), and out-shot the Crew 17-15, but the Crew’s shots were more accurate (6 shots on-target to 5).  Austin also top Columbus with 28% more passes and twice as many crossing passes.  Austin 

“It’s a solid performance,” said Austin FC head coach Josh Wolff.  “Our guys kill themselves, they bust their asses, and they work tirelessly. It was nice to be home. The fans pushed us. It’s an unbelievable atmosphere, it really is.”

Commenting on Alex Ring’s contribution and his impact on the midfield, Wolff said, “Alex is a warrior, he’s an absolute beast.”  Wolff went on to say “he (Ring) helps drive guys, and he helps with Tomás (Pochettino) and Diego (Fagundez).
