Austin Bold Honor Promise Isaac with Win

The Austin Bold FC match against the Tacoma Defiance FC started with solemnity, as the team honored the second anniversary of the passing of Promise Isaac.  The explosive striker joined the team for its inaugural season in 2019 and died of a heart attack while at the gym.

The team wore his number 11 on their jerseys for the match, and observed an 11 second moment of silence following the National Anthem.

Tacoma controlled the match, leading in possession, passing, and passing accuracy.  But Austin was more strategic on the attack, leading in total shots (12 – 8), shots on target (3 – 1), and, most importantly, goals (1 – 0).

The match’s only goal came off the left foot of Owayne Omar Gordon from the to-right of the box to the bottom-left corner of the goal.  The score was set-up on a lateral pass from Collin Fernandez.

Austin goalkeeper Elliot Panicco recorded his 11th clean sheet of the season.  Panicco is second in the league only to Evan Louro of the Tampa Bay Rowdies for shutouts.
