Bold Dodge Defeat in Final Minutes

The Austin Bold were losing to the OKC Energy until two minutes into stoppage time when Nicholas Hinds drew a foul in the penalty box, and Xavier Baez converted the penalty kick.  The Bold happily walked away with a 1-1 draw.

The Bold played a more aggressive match, but the Energy leveraged finesse.

Austin controlled the match from a pure physical perspective, leading in possession (58 to 42%), shots (14 to 8), shots on targer (7 to 5), and fouls (10 to 9).  But OKC executed  with greater precision, leading in shooting accuracy (63 to 50%), tackle success rate (95 to 43%), crossing pass accuracy (23 to 9%), and aerial duel wins (63 to 37%).

The first goal of the match didn’t the 83rd minute.   Seyl Adekoya took advance of a fast break to set up Villyan Bijev in the center of the box.  Bijev beat Bold goalkeeper Elliot Panicco with a right-footed shot to the bottom left of the goals.

Austin’s break came two minutes into stoppage time as OKC’s Mueng Sunday flatten Hinds just inside the penalty area.  Baez drilled the penalty kick into the lower left corner, just outside the reach of goalkeeper C.J. Cochran.
