#1 Texas Shuts Out Texas State

The top ranked University of Texas Longhorns (1-0) women’s tennis team dropped just 20 games in 8 matches to sweep the Texas State University Bobcats (0-2).  The closest match was an unfinished doubles match that went 4-3. 

Texas claimed a 1-0 lead by taking the doubles point.  The #1 double team of Peyton Stearns and Charlotte Chavatipon (UT) defeated the team of Hana Kvapilova and Sofia Fortuno (TxSt), 6-1.  The #3 team of Sabina Zeynalova and Vivian Ovrootsky (UT) topped Mae McCutcheon and Maria Lora (TxSt), 6-0.  The #2 match of Allura Zamarripa and Bella Zamarripa (UT) vs. Kate Malazonia and Jadeh Chan (TxSt) was suspended because of time.   

Texas swept the single matches in straight sets.  The most competitive was match #3, which saw Vivian Ovrootsky (UT) prevail over Mae McCutcheon (TxSt), 7-5, 6-2.   Peyton Stearns (UT) defeated Hana Kvapilova (TxSt), 6-1, 6-3, in the #1 match.  Charlotte Chavatipon (UT) took  Kate Malazonia (TxSt), 6-2, 6-0, in the #2 match.  Sabina Zeynalova (UT) easily handled Sofia Fortuno (TxSt), 6-1, 6-0, in the #4 match.  In the match, Malaika Rapolu (UT) turned back Maria Lora (TxSt), 6-2, 6-2.  And Bella Zamarripa (UT) took Jadeh Chan (TxSt), 6-0, 6-1, in the final match.
