The LigaMX Tour Aquila ended with the Club America dropping the second of two friendly contests in the United States.  America fell to Rayados Monterrey by a score of 2-1.  America previously lost to Tigres.  Tour Aquila is the official US tour of Club America.

America and Rayados fans were excited to see their favorite teams play, with the America’s fans occupying the south end of Q2 Stadium and the Rayados’ the north. The diehard fans arrived early, bringing a wildly colorful assortment of banners, flags, and apparel.  The celebration prompter a higher degree of concern among the arena security staff.  Thankfully sober minds prevailed and no incidents marred the enjoyment of the match.

Quality of play was less than expected as each team withheld star player for the friendly exhibition match. Nonetheless, fan enjoyment of the match rose above the caliber of play, making for a festival-like atmosphere.

Rayado’s Maxi Meza opened the scoring in the 23rd minute.  Alfonso Alvarado’s goal in the 34th minute gave Monterrey a 2-0 lead.  Rayados carried that lead into the 79th minute when America’s Miguel Layun broke the shutout.  Final score was 2-1.
