Hunters, Men in Blue take Spring Championship

Saturday saw the finals of the Central Texas Cricket League Spring 2022 Tournament.  The tournament showcased the best cricket in central Texas as the top teams in two divisions battled for the coveted trophy and the bragging rights. 

The Hunters topped the Austin Aces to win the Division A Championship by a score of 137 to 133 (20 overs).  The match was called for the Aces when their score topped the Hunters, using only 14.1 of the 20 available overs. 

Shashank Vuttaluru led the Hunters with 39 runs in 23 bats, followed closely by Kunal Patel with 35 runs in 22 bats.  Vuttaluru  and Patel each sent the bowl past the boundary five times, Vuttaluru twice in the air and Patel three times. 

The Aces were led by Niket Kumar with 61 runs in 45 bats.  Kumar launched the bowl beyond the boundary four times on the ground and twice in the air.  Second-best batsman for the Aces was Santhosh Reddy Julakanti with 21 runs in 19 bats. 

The Men in Blue easily handled the Sharks to claim the Division B Championship.  Men in Blue put up 200 runs (4 wickets, 20 overs) to the Shark’s 168 runs (8 wickets, 20 overs). 

Sandeep Singh carried the Men in Blue in a massive performance, producing 109 runs in 57 bats, sending the bowl beyond the boundary 15 times.  Singh also bowled three wickets against the Sharks. 

The Sharks were led by Dishant Patel (39 runs, 30 bats) and Deepak Valluru (31 runs, 23 bats).
