Jung Lead Express Over Chihuahuas

Josh Jung, in his first home appearance this season, led the Round Rock Express (60-52) to a 9-to-4 victory over the El Paso Chihuahuas (61-20).  The Express picked-up one game in PCL East as they chase the Chihuahuas for second place. 

Jung was explosive, going 3-for-5 with 2 home runs for 6 RBIs and 2 runs.  Nick Solak and Diosbel Arias each notched 3 hits, including home runs, for a total of 3 RBIs. 

Round Rock’s offensive assault started in the first inning with Solak’s solo home run. 

The Express added 4 runs in the second inning, starting with back-to-back doubles by Nick Tanielu and Arias for a run.  Solak’s bunt single put runners on the corners.  Jung’s home run gave the Express a 5-to-0 lead. 

El Paso put a run on the scoreboard in the fourth inning with C.J. Hinojosa’s pop-up to right field that scored Luis Campusano. 

Jung’s second home run came in the sixth inning, plating Arias and Solak. 

The Chihuahuas mustered a small rally in the eighth inning on Luis Liberator’s three-run home run, scoring Taylor Kohlwey and Brett Sullivan. 

Round Rock capped the win with Arias’ solo home run in the eighth inning. 

Tyler Duffey (W, 1-0) was assigned the win in 1 inning of relief in his first appearance for the Express.  Duffey allowed 1 run on 2 hits.  Duffey relieved starting pitcher A.J. Alexy who held El Paso scoreless in 3 innings on the mound.  Round Rock used a total 6 pitchers in the effort. 

El Paso starting pitcher Jesse Scholtens suffered the loss, allowing 7 runs (5 earned) on 5 hits in 2 innings.  Scholtens struck-out 2 and allowed 2 home runs.
