Five Drivers Make Debut in FP1 at Austin

FP1 saw five rookies took to the circuit in place of veteran drivers in developmental effort: Robert Shwartzman for Ferrari, Alex Palou for McLaren, Theo Pourchaire for Alfa Romeo, Logan Sargeant for Williams, and Antonio Giovianazzi for Haas. 

Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz set the fastest lap of 1m 36.857s in Free Practice #1 at the United States Grand Prix at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas.  Following 0.224s behind was Red Bull’s Max Verstappen. Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton finish third at 0.475 off the fastest pace.  Aston Martin’s Lance Stroll and Red Bull’s Sergio Perez rounded out the top five at just greater than 0.6s behind.
