Third Quarter Charge Pushes Birmingham past Austin

A fast start to the second half gave the Birmingham Squadron (5-16) a 16-point cushion that carried them past the Austin Spurs (6-13), 120-to-113.

Birmingham took control of the boards, out-rebounding Austin 40-to-30.  The Squadron also bettered the Spurs in points from the paint, 64-to-50.  Austin was without their “bigs”, Charles Bassey and Dominick Barlow, who were the San Antonio Spurs.

Birmingham’s Kelan Martin led all players with 32 points, going 4-for-9 from beyond the arc.  Five addition Squadron players tallied double digit scores, including Zylan Cheatham (20), Feron Hunt (18), Javonte Smart (17) James Kelly Sr. (10) and Jordan Swig (10).

Brandon Randolph led the Spurs with 22 points.  Jordan Hall accounted for the games only double-double, 16 points and 10 rebounds.  Jordan Murphy (18), Marcus Zegarwoski (17), Justin Kier (15) and Denzel Mahoney (10) notched double digits.
