White Sox Walk-off Against A’s

The Chicago White Sox rallied in the bottom of the ninth inning for a walk-off 5-to-4 victory the Oakland Athletics in a spring training exhibition game.  Billy Hamilton’s sacrifice bunt, followed by a throwing error by pitcher Nolan Long, score Victor Reyes. 

Oakland opened the scoring with two runs in the opening frame.  Catcher Yasmani Grandal’s throwing error on an attempted steal by Seth Brown allowed Shea Langelier to cross the plate.  Brown later scored on Andrew Benintendi’s a sacrifice fly. 

Hanser Alberto’s third inning solo home run gave Chicago their first run, and narrowed the score to 2-to-1. 

The teams exchanged runs in the sixth inning.  Oakland’s coming on a Brent Rooker double to bring home Seth Brown.  Chicago’s came on Seby Zavala’s sacrifice fly, scoring Hamilton. 

The White Sox took their first lead of the game with a pair of runs in the seventh inning.  Erik Gonzalez’s line-drive double to left field allowed Reyes to cross the plate.  And Hamilton’s infield single scored Erik Gonzalez. 

The A’s tied the game in the top of the eighth inning when Darell Hernaiz crossed the plate on Kyle McCann’s double to right field. 

White Sox designated hitter Victor Reyes led the team with two hits and two runs in three official visits to the plate.  Mike Morin earned the win, facing three batters in the ninth inning. 

Oakland DH Seth Brown led the A’s with two hits and two runs in three at-bats.  Nolan Long suffered the loss.
