Solid Pitching, Hitting Carry Express over Space Cowboys

The Round Rock Express (52-34) put-up ten hits, while holding the Sugar Land Space Cowboys (35-52) to two, in route to a 7-to-1 victory. 

Sugar Land found the early lead as Jon Singleton went long for a solo home run in the second inning.  Round Rock responded with Blaine Crim’s solo-shot over the center field wall. 

Crim crossed the plate again in the fourth inning, and Elier Hernandez move to third base, on Jonathan Ornelas single to right field.  Crim and Hernandez got on base with back-to-back doubles.  Hernandez then scored on J.P. Martinez’s single to center field. 

Round Rock added two additional runs in the seventh inning on Sam Huff’s double, plating Bubba Thompson and Dustin Harris.  Thompson reached base on a throwing error, and Harris on a walk. 

The Express put-up their final two runs on Martinez home run in the eighth inning, scoring Ornelas, who reached beating out a double play. 

Express pitcher Robert Dugger (5-5) was solid in the start, allowing one run on one hit in six innings, while striking out nine and allowing no walks. 

Space Cowboy starter Spencer Arrighetti suffered the loss, giving up three runs on six hits in four innings of work.  Arrighetti struck out six batters while walking three. 

Martinez led the Express offensively, going 2-for-3 at the plate with three runs batted in.  Singleton was the sole bright spot for the Space Cowboys with his home run.
