Reno Edges Past Express

The Reno Aces held the Round Rock Express to two hits in route to a 2-to-1 win. Reno runs came on solo home runs.    

Reno starting pitcher Blake Walston (7-5) earned the win, holding the Express to one run on two hits in six innings on the mound. Reno relievers Stephen Nogosek, Andrew Saalfrank, and Zach McAllister were perfect, each pitching one inning, allowing no hits nor runs. 

Round Rock starter Seth Nordlin allowed no runs nor hits, while striking out three batters in five innings of work.  Reliever Spencer Howard endured the loss, and was tagged with a blown save, giving up two runs on two hits, both home runs, while striking out five batters.  Howard saw three innings of action. 

Round Rock drew first blood in the second inning, beginning with a walk to Justin Foscue.  Foscue advanced to second base on a while pitch, and moved to third on Blaine Crims’ single.  Foscue crossed the plate on Elier Hernandez’s fielder’s choice. 

Reno’s runs came on solo home runs from Pavin Smith in the sixth inning, and Ali Sanchez in the seventh inning. 

Sanchez led all players, going three-for-three at the plate.
