Express Defeat Bees, Extend Streak to 13 Games

The Round Rock Express defeated the Salt Lake Bees by a final score of 9-to-6 with a 12th inning three-run walk-off home run by Sandro Fabian.  Round Rock has now won 13 consecutive games, which ties the club’s longest winning streak. 

The Express have now tied the franchise record with 13 straight wins and have the longest active win streak in all professional baseball. The club’s longest previous winning streak of 13 was set from May 19-31, 2004.

Blaine Crim led the Express offensively going 4-for-5 with one walk, three singles, a home run, four RBI and two runs scored. He now has recorded the team’s most four-hit games this season. 

The Express sent six pitchers to the mound in the effort, ending the game with Marc Church (5-0) who earned the win, allowing no runs nor hits in 2.2 innings, while striking out three batters.  Salt Lake used five pitchers with Eric Torres (0-1) being tagged with the loss.  Torres gave-up four runs on three hits in 1.2 inning of work. 

Salt Lake got on the board in the first inning after Jordyn Adams doubled then scored after a throwing error.

Round Rock took a 2-1 lead after Blaine Crim smacked a two-RBI single to score Josh Harrison and Davis Wendzel after a they had reached via a hit-by-pitch and a double, respectively.

The Bees reclaimed the lead in the fourth inning when Jared Walsh sent a two-run home run over the right field wall.

Bees extended that lead to 4-2 after singles from Orlando Martinez, Brett Phillips and David Fletcher, accompanied by a fielding error plated the insurance run.

Express Blaine Crim tied the game at four with his 16th home run of the season in the bottom of the seventh after Wendzel drew a walk.  The score remainded tied after nine innings. 

With the extra-inning inherited runner on second to start the 10th, Salt Lake’s Jack Lopez lined an RBI single to center with two out to put the visitors in front 5-4. In the home half, Round Rock’s inherited runner scored on a fielding error to tie the game at 5-5.

In the 11th, the Bees’ Adams singled in Martinez, who started the frame on second, to take a 6-5 lead. For the Express, Harrison sent Harris home to make it a 6-6 game.

Round Rock’s Marc Church notched two strikeouts in the top of the 12th and held the Bees scoreless.  Foscue was hit by pitch, which had two runners on for Sandro Fabian, who walked it off with a three-run home run secured the 9-6 final.
