Express Set Franchise-Record 14th Straight Win

The Round Rock Express set a new franchise record with their 14th-straight win after taking down the Salt Lake Bees by a final score of 9-1 at Dell Diamond on Wednesday night. The previous franchise record of 13 games was set May 19-31, 2004.

Round Rock starter RHP Owen White (2-1, 4.59) earned the win after 5.2 innings of one-hit baseball. He walked four and struck out three. Salt Lake starter RHP Cesar Valdez (0-1, 7.20) went home with the loss after 5.0 innings that included five earned runs on nine hits with two walks and six strikeouts.

Round Rock’s Justin Foscue and Elier Hernandez each went 3-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored.  Foscue posted three singles while Hernandez had two singles and a double. 

The Express took a 1-0 lead with Davis Wendzel’s first inning solo home.  His 25th round-tripper of the season barely cleared the fence in left field. 

The Express put up a four-run fourth inning behind six hits. Dio Arias knocked in two runs with a single while Josh Harrison added a run with another single. Justin Foscue added one more with an RBI single and the Express led 5-0. 

Round Rock tacked on three more runs to take an 8-0 lead in the sixth inning. The Express loaded the bases and Hernandez smacked an RBI single to score one more before Dustin Harris recorded a two-RBI single to extend the lead to 8-0. 

Round Rock added one more run in the ninth inning. Dustin Harris singled to score Wendzel as the Express held a 9-0 advantage. Salt Lake’s Kevin Padlo hit a solo homer for the Bees to end the shutout and give Round Rock a 9-1 victory.
