Express Throttle Bees, Take Series

The Round Rock Express defeated the Salt Lake Bees by a final score of 11-to-2, and take the series five games to one.  Sam Huff led the Express, going 3-for-3 at the plate with three runs, three RBIs and two walks. 

Express starter Robert Dugger (7-8) earned the win after throwing 7.0 innings that saw two runs with four hits, four walks and four strikeouts. Dugger is now six strikeouts away from breaking the Express’ single-season strikeout record of 123 dating to 2005.

Bees starter Jhonathan Diaz (8-2) saw the loss, allowing eight runs on 11 hits and six walks over 3.2 innings. 

Salt Lake got on the board in the second inning when Livan Soto reached base on a walk, then scored when Jared Walsh grounded into a double play. 

The Express responded with four runs in the bottom of the inning.  Justin Foscue hit a three-run home run, followed Elier Hernandez’s single, scoring Dustin Harris. 

Round Rock added another run in the third inning on Jonathan Ornelas’ bases loaded single, plating Blaine Crim. 

The Express extended their lead  in the fourth inning with Blaine Crim’s sacrifice fly, plating Hernandez.   Sandro Fabian made it an 8-to-1 game with his two-run RBI single to right field, bringing in Davis Wendzel and Sam Huff. 

Huff added three additional runs for the Express with a home run to left-center field, plating Hernandez and Grim. 

Salt Lake added the final run of the contest in the sixth inning with Michael Stefanic’s double, scoring Jordyn Adams, bringing the score to 11-to-2.
