#17 Texas, #23 Gonzaga Battle to Draw

The #17 Texas Longhorns battled to a 0-0 draw against the Gonzaga Bulldogs. Texas has not allowed a goal in its last 495:59, setting a program record for most consecutive games without allowing a goal.

Texas and Gonzaga were evenly matched by nearly every measure: Gonzaga led slightly in shots (20-to-19) and  shots on target (9-to-8).   Each team had two corner kicks and committed six fouls.

Texas was led by Lexi Missimo with seven shots, five on-target.  Gonzaga’s Marissa Garcia contributed five shots, three on-target.

“I think (Mia Justus) is just high quality and that’s why we are so excited to have her,” said Texas head coach Angela Kelly.  “I think both keepers had to make some really outstanding saves today, especially when the match was coming down to the last five minutes.”

“I thought both groups played well considering how hot it was,” said Texas goaltender Mia Justus.  “Obviously, we didn’t get the result we wanted, but I thought there was good effort by both sides.”

Texas (6-1-1) has now completed a stretch of seven consecutive home non-conference matches, and will travel to Baylor to open Big 12 Conference competition on Thursday, Sept. 14.
