Stars Wallop Coyotes in Preseason

The Dallas Stars, parent of the Texas Stars, played an NHL pre-season hockey game against the Arizona Coyotes as part of their training camp at the H-E-B Center in Cedar Park.  The Stars pummeled the Coyotes, winning by a final score of 7-to-0.

The game felt like a reunion, matching prior and  current members of the Texas Stars against Arizona.  Former members of the Texas Stars included Jordie Been, Gavin Bayreuther, Thomas Harley, Nick Caamano, and Ty Dellandrea.

The first ten minutes of the game were pathetically slow with neither team generating a shot on goal.  Logan Stankoven opened the scoring, in 17th minute with a goal set up a Matej Blumel.  Stankoven ended the night with two goals and Blumel with two assists.

Curtis McKenzie, captain of the Dallas affiliate, tallied the game’s second goal, assisted by Antonio Stranges.  Stranges later found the back of the net on his own.

Sam Steel gave the Stars a 3-0 lead on an unassisted goal.  Thomas Harley and Stranges closed out the second period, each with a goal.

Scott Reedy and Stankoven each netted a goal for the home team in the third period.

The contest was very lopsided as the Coyotes spilt their squad to support an exhibition game in Australia.  The Stars out-shot the Coyotes 43-to-11.  Matt Villalta  replace Ivan Prosvetov for the Coyotes between the pipe midway through contest.

Chris Gibson worked the first two periods for Dallas before making way for Remi Poirier.
