Chicago Sweep Texas in Weekend Series

The Texas Stars were embarrassed, again, falling to the Chicago
Wolves by a final score of 4-to-1. The Wolves swept the two-game series,
winning 3-to-1 the previous night.

Texas Stars head coach Graham made no excuses for the team’s
performance, clearly assigning responsibility on the payers.

“Let’s be honest, we had some early season success, and,
unfortunately, what can come with that is a feeling of lets maintain,” said
Graham.  “I’m a big believer in that you’re
either growing or you’re dying, and for me, maintain is death.”

Chicago’s Chris Terry owned the first period, scoring his
first goal just 54 seconds into the contest. Terry doubled the Wolves lead 12
minutes into the opening frame on a power play goal.

The Wolves effectively boxed the Stars to their side of the
center line, effectively disabling any  attack
with relentless forechecking.

“I don’t like the way we came out, to start the game, at
all.  For the first 20 (minutes), I think,
we let some real bad habits seep into our game,” said Graham “If you’re going
to continue to show up late, and trail games, then that’s the result that will
follow.”

Terry scored the game’s third goal midway through the middle
period, earning a hat trick for the evening.

Logan Stankoven put Texas on the score board at 13:10 in the
final period.  However, any chance the
Stars had for a comeback was lost with Nathan Sucese’s empty-net goal with
three minutes remaining the game.

Former Texas Stars goaltender Adam Scheel (6-7-3) earned the
win, making 34 saves against 35 shots.
Current Texas Stars goaltender Remi Poirier (11-6-5) went home with the
loss, allowing three goal on 27 shots.

Looking to get his team back on track, Graham said “We got
to take care about getting to our identity.”
He went on to say, “We have to have structure.  We have to have systems. So if we (continue
to) play pond hockey, we’re in trouble.”
