Stars Turn Corner with Win over Gulls

The Texas Stars ended a three-game losing stream as they defeated the San Diego Gulls 3-to-1. 

The Stars jumped to an early lead when Antonio Stranges took a Michael Karow pass to beat San Diego goaltender Tomas Suchanek.  Stranges’ goal midway through the opening session was the only score in the period. 

The Gulls evened the tally early in the middle frame when Nikita Nesterenko broke out and beat Star netminder Matt Murray. 

Texas reclaimed the lead in the back-half of the period when Keaton Mastrodonato collected the rebound from Strange’s shot to find the back of the net. 

Texas added an insurance goal in the final seconds of the game when San Diego pulled their goalkeeper and Mavrik Bourque collect a shot blocked by Oskar Back to make the easy goal. 

Texas goalkeeper Matt Murray earned the win, making 17 saves against 18 shots.  San Diego
