Day #2 Recap of the 96th Texas Relays
March 28, 2024All attention was on Texas senior Leo Neugebauer as he took the men’s decathlon with a combined score of 8708 in the 96th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays, setting a new Texas Relays. This was Neugebauer’s third-straight Texas Relays decathlon title.
Neugebauer placed first in the long jump, shot put, high jump, 400m dash, discus, and pole vault. Neugebauer hold the Myers Stadium and NCAA record of 8836, a mark he set in the 2023.
Jenelle Rogers took home the top spot in the heptathlon for Ball State with a score of 5825. Texas’ Kristine Blazevica top third place for Texas.
Texas freshman Akala Garrett took third place in the women’s 400m hurdles. Texas sophomore Chris Brinkley also claimed the third-place finish in the men’s 400m hurdles.
Texas State’s Elisab Rut Runarsdottier had the second furthest throw of 66.85m in the women’s hammer.
Jeremiah Nubbe had the top throw of 73.11 in the men’s hammer for Texas, breaking own Texas program record in the hammer throw.
