Caamano’s Four Goals Lifts Stars Over Eagles
April 2, 2024Nick Caamano’s four goals led the Texas Stars (31-28-4-2) over the Colorado Eagles (35-21-5-2) by a final score of 5-to-3. It was Caamano’s first professional hat trick and first four-goal game.
Reflecting on his accomplishment, Caamano kept is simple by saying, “I’m happy we got the win, that was huge for our group.”
A tightly played first period ended in a flurry with Jason Polin scoring for the Eagles and Fredrik Karlstrom for Stars late in the period.
The second period replicated the first with the teams exchanging goals. Caamano scored his first goal midway way through the frame. Colorado’s Peter Holland tied the game four minutes later.
The doors blew off the barn in the final frame. Caamano took charge early, giving the Stars a 3-to-2 lead three minutes in. Jack Ahcan evened the score, again, for the Eagles midway through the period. Caamano took back the lead for Texas and claimed the hat trick with four minutes remaining in the contest. He stuck a fork in a juicy win in the final seconds with an empty-net tally.
Texas goaltender Ben Kraws (2-0-0) earned his second win in as many starts, making 24 saves against 27 shots. Colorado netminder Arvid Holm skated home with the loss, allowing four goals against 26 shots.
Commenting on the game, Texas Star head coach Neil Graham said, “It was a back and forth affair. There were waves and momentum shifts. Right from the beginning I thought came out really good on time.”
