Long Balls Carry Reno over Round Rock

Home runs by Kolten Wong and Adrian Del Castillo led the Reno Aces (21-24) over the Round Rock Express (25-19) by a final score of 3-to-1.  Round Rock’s only run came on a home run from Derek Hill. 

Reno starting pitcher Chris Ellis earned the win, allowing one run on three hits in seven innings of work.  Ellis struck-out seven batters while giving-up only one walk.  Brandon Hughes and Scott McGough each pitched an inning of scoreless relief. 

Express relief pitcher Kyle Barraclough went home with the loss.  Barraclough allowed two runs on three hits in three innings on the mound.  He struck-out five and walked two batters. 

Round Rock starting pitcher Peter Solomon went 3.2 innings with no decision, allowing one run on three hits. Chasen Shreve and Jesus Tinoco combined for 2.1 innings of relief, allowing no hits nor runs in their time on the hump. 

Offensively, Reno was led by Sergio Alcantara with three hits in four appearances with a run batted in.  Wong followed, going 2-for-3 with a solo home run. 

Hill led Round Rock at the plate, with one hit, a home run, in three at-bats.
