Rainiers Shutout Express
June 13, 2024Five Tacoma Rainier pitchers combined to blank the Round Rock Express, winning by a final score of 3-to-0. The Rainiers carried a no hitter into the fourth inning.
Rainier starting pitcher Michael Mariot earned the win in a very strong outing, allowing one hit and no walks while striking out five batters in 5.1 scoreless inning.
Express starting pitcher Johnny Cueto suffered the loss. Cueto allowed three runs on six hits, struck out three and walked two batters in five innings on the mound. Gerson Barabito pitched four innings of scoreless relief, scattering two hits, and striking out four batters.
All the game’s scoring occurred in the second inning, being Jason Vosler’s single to right field. A walk to Spencer Packard mover Vosler to second base. Vosler then stole third base. A walk to Samad Taylor loaded the bases. Michael Perez’s double emptied the bases, giving Tacoma a 3-to-0 lead.
Dustin Harris led the Express offensively, breaking the no-hitter and going 2-for-4 in the contest.
