Oklahoma City Pushes Past Round Rock
July 19, 2024Three-time Cy Young award winner and Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw started for the Dodgers’ AAA affiliate, the Oklahoma City Baseball Club, against the Round Rock Express as part of his rehab program. OKC went on to defeat Round Rock by a final score of 10-to-6.
Kershaw allowed three runs on six hits in four innings of work for no decision. He struck out two batters and allowed one home run. OKC relief pitcher Nick Ramirez earned the win, allowing no hits and striking out two batters in one inning on the mound.
Round Rock starting pitcher Owen White went home with the loss, allowing four runs (three earned) on six hits in 4.1 innings. White struck out seven batters and walked two.
OKC started hot, scoring two runs in the first inning on Trey Sweeney’s double, scoring Andre Lipcius and Ryan Ward. Lipcius reached base on a single and Ward on a walk.
The Express counter in the bottom of the frame on Sam Huff’s two-run single, plating Dustin Harris and Ezequiel Duran. Harris reach base on a single, and advance to third base on Duran’s single. Duran reached scoring position by stealing second base.
The teams exchanged runs again in the fourth inning. OKC’s Hunter Feduccia crossed the plate on Austin Gauthier’s single. Round Rock’s run came on Davis Wendzel solo home run to left field.
The Baseball Club took the lead in the fifth inning by loading the bases with Ward’s fielder’s choice, Sweeney’s single and Diego Cartaya’s walk. Feduccia’s single plated Ward and Sweeney.
OKC added to their lead in the sixth inning with home runs from Ward and Sweeney, scoring four additional runs.
The Express mounted a partial response with Trevor Hauver’s bases-loaded single, driving home Huff and Blaine Crim.
The teams exchanged runs again in the seventh inning with Drew Avans driving home a run for OKC and Sandro Fabian for the Express.
