Foscue Leads Express Over Space Cowboys

The Round Rock Express, led by Justin Foscue, took their first game in three attempts against the Sugar Land Space Cowboys, 5-to-2.  Foscue hit 2-for-2 with a home run, two RBI, two runs scored and two walks.  

Round Rock reliever Blake Taylor earned the win, pitching 2.1 shutout innings that saw two hits, one walk and three strikeouts. Sugar Land starter Colton Gordon suffered with the loss, going 4.2 innings on the mound, giving up two runs, six hits, two walks and four punchouts. 

The teams exchanged runs in the opening inning.  Sugar Land’s Jesus Bastidas scoring on Shay Whitcomb’s sacrifice fly, and Round Rock’s Foscue crossing the plate on Blaine Crim’s double. 

The Express edged ahead in the fifth inning on Foscue’s solo home run, never to look back. 

Round Rock scored three additional runs in the sixth inning, beginning with Foscue’s bases-loaded sacrifice fly, scoring Jonathan Ornelas.  Dustin Harris followed with a single to plate Jax Biggers and Kellen Strahm. 

The Space Cowboys rallied in the ninth, scoring one run on Cooper Hummel’s single, bringing home Zach Dezenzo.  Express relief pitch Kyle Barraclough rose to the occasion and squelched the comeback.
