Express Power Past Isotopes

The Round Rock Express (56-57) amassed seven runs on 11 hits to defeat the Albuquerque Isotopes (44-71) 7-to-2. 

Round Rock starting pitcher Peter Solomon (2-4) had one of this best starts of the season, allowing just one run on two hits in 5.1 innings on the mound.  He struck out eight batters and walked two. 

Isotope starter Peyton Battenfield (3-6) took home the loss, giving up four runs on eight hits in 5.2 innings of work.  Battenfield struck out four and walked two batters. 

The Express jumped to an early lead with Andrew Knapp’s solo home run in the first inning. 

Round Rock doubled their lead in the fourth inning, when Knapp crossed the plate again on Trevor Hauver’s double.  Knapp reached base on a walk, and moved to second base on Blaine Crim’s single. 

Round Rock opened the game up with a two-out rally in the fifth.  Dustin Harris’ single and another walk to Knapp set the stage for Crim’s two-run double. 

Albuquerque took back a run in the sixth inning on Hunter Stovall’s solo shot over the left-center wall, making the score 4-to-1. 

The visitors added another run in the seventh inning when Drew Romo when yard to right field. 

The Express capped the night with three runs in the seventh inning on Trevor Hauver’s bases-loaded double, plating Justin Foscue (single), Harris (walk) and Knapp (walk).
