Huff Leads Express Pass River Cats
September 11, 2024Round Rock Express’ Sam Huff tallied three hits, including two doubles, and drove home the game winning run to help defeat the Sacramento River Cats, 6-5. Huff extended his hitting streak to 11 games.
Express starting Adrian Sampson looked sharp, allowing just one run on three hits in five innings. He would have gone home with the win if not Steven Jennings’ blown save, giving up four runs on four hits without retiring a batter. Robby Ahlstrom pulled the game out of the fire and took home the win, allowing one hit in two innings.
River Cat starter Carson Ragsdale also looked solid, allowing no runs on two hits in three innings on the mound. The game got out of hand for Drew Strotman, giving up four runs on five hits in 1. 2 innings pitched. Surprising, it was Clay Helvey who was tagged for the loss, allowing one run on one hit in 2.1 innings.
It was a big night for Huff, but right behind him was Trevor Hauver with a two-run home run in the fifth inning.
Donovan Walton let Sacramento at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two walks and three runs batted in.
