No. 4 Texas Pounds Tarleton State

The #4 Texas Longhorns women’s basketball team easily defeated the Tarleton State Texan Riders, 83-41, in what will probably be the loudest game of the season.  Some 6000 screaming young fans cheered on the Longhorns in the annual Forty Acres Field Trip.

The Longhorns executed on all fronts, shooting nearly 50% from field, 27% from beyond the arc and 87% from the charity stripe.  Texas forces 29 turnovers to produce 35 points.

Madison Booker led all players with 25 points with Shay Holle following with 14 points.  Rori Harmon added 11 points with four steals, approaching her pre-injury performance level.  Three of those steals and eight of those points came in the first quarter.  Kyla Oldacre came off the bench to pull down 10 rebounds and put-up nine points.  She was 3-for-3 from the field.

Tarleton State head coach Bill Brock insured all players saw court time, making the most of his team’s experience in the Moody Center.

The fan noise and their opponents severely impacted the Texan Rider’s play, converting on just 30% of attempts from the field and 20% of the attempts from distance.  Arieona Rosborough led with 11 points and four rebounds in 32 minutes and Miannah Little added 10 points in 26 minutes on the court.
