Austin FC 2024 Media Cup

Austin FC’s 2024 season came to an unofficial close with the annual playing of the Media Cup.  The match pits members of the Austin FC front office and local media face-off in a 60-minute, 9-on-9 match played on a shortened field at Q2 Stadium. 

Contrary to its name, the contest is not one of media versus the front office.  (Frankly, the front office is full of ringers and the match would be lopsided).  Instead, host Austin FC Senior Vice-President, Ryan Madden, and his Media and Communications colleagues, evenly divvy up the players between two teams, the Verde and the Black. 

The results are somewhat in question because there was no official scorekeeper.  The most exciting score was an own goal by KVUE’s Cory Mose tried to head the ball outside the box, but found the back of his team’s goal instead.  Mose is now officially going by the moniker, OG.
