SXSW Day 7: AI’s Ethical Future and Music Tech’s Evolution Take Center Stage

A highlight of the day was “Rebooting AI from the Ground Up,” an insightful interview with Rumman Chowdhury, a distinguished Bangladeshi American data scientist, business founder, and former responsible AI lead at Accenture. Chowdhury, recognized for her significant contributions to data science, captivated the audience with her vision for democratizing AI evaluation. Drawing upon a global chorus of 5,000 critical voices, she outlined practical strategies for constructing AI systems rooted in principles of transparency, fairness, and accountability, emphasizing the urgent need to rebuild AI from a more ethical foundation.
Later, the spotlight shifted to the harmonious blend of creativity and technology in music with “The Art of the Beat: Bridging Creativity and Technology.” This dynamic panel was expertly moderated by Bomo Piri, a visionary storyteller known for transforming brands through music and strategic partnerships. Piri was joined by an impressive lineup of industry luminaries: Vicky Casis, a Brooklyn-based music producer and DJ celebrated for her distinctive beats; Andy Mac, a highly respected figure in music production with over two decades leading Akai Professional; and Grammy-winning music producer Zaytoven (Xavier Lamar Dotson).
