Chihuahuas Rally Past Express, Secure 9-4 Victory

The El Paso Chihuahuas (34-30) mounted a resilient comeback Tuesday night, overcoming an early deficit to defeat the Round Rock Express (30-34) by a final score of 9-4. The game’s turning point came in the sixth inning, as the Chihuahuas exploded for three crucial runs that shifted the momentum decisively in their favor.

The Express jumped out to an early lead in the bottom of the first. Dustin Harris led off with a walk, swiftly followed by Justin Foscue’s RBI double. Foscue later scored on a Trevor Hauver sacrifice fly, giving Round Rock a 2-0 advantage. El Paso quickly responded in the second when Nate Mondou tripled and came home on Cody Roberts’ sacrifice fly, cutting the lead to 2-1.

The Chihuahuas continued to chip away in the fifth. Forrest Wall walked, stole second, and then advanced to third on a wild pitch before scoring the tying run on Clay Dungan’s line-drive single to center.

El Paso then seized control in the top of the sixth. With four hits, including an RBI double from Nate Mondou and another sacrifice fly from Roberts, the Chihuahuas surged ahead. Wall capped the rally with an RBI single, putting El Paso up 5-2.

Round Rock attempted to claw back, with Michael Helman driving in a run in the sixth and Justin Foscue adding another RBI single in the seventh, narrowing the gap to 5-4. However, the Chihuahuas’ offense proved too potent. In the eighth, Mason McCoy delivered a two-run single to extend El Paso’s lead to 7-4, and they added two more in the ninth with an RBI single from Trenton Brooks and a groundout by Yonathan Perlaza, sealing the 9-4 victory.
