Foscue’s Walk-Off Hit Secures Express Win in Series Opener

The Round Rock Express kicked off their series against the Sugar Land Space Cowboys with a dramatic 4-3 walk-off victory on Tuesday night, fueled by a clutch tenth-inning hit from Justin Foscue. The win, the Express’s 11th walk-off of the season, came after a persistent comeback that forced extra innings.

The game started as a pitchers’ duel. Space Cowboys starter Jose Fleury was dominant, allowing just one run on two hits over six strong innings. The Express’s Trey Supak gave up two runs in 4.2 innings but earned a no-decision.

Sugar Land was the first to strike, with Shay Whitcomb launching his 23rd home run of the season in the second inning to put the Space Cowboys ahead 1-0. They extended their lead to 2-0 in the fifth when Zach Cole singled home Jacob Melton.

Round Rock finally got on the board in the bottom of the fifth thanks to a solo home run from Omar Narváez, cutting the deficit to one. The Express trailed 2-1 for much of the game until Sugar Land added an insurance run in the eighth with a successful double steal, pushing their lead to 3-1.

However, Round Rock refused to quit. In the bottom of the eighth, Aaron Zavala’s leadoff walk led to an RBI single from Billy McKinney, bringing the Express within one run. The real heroics came in the ninth. Abimelec Ortiz and Trevor Hauver got aboard with walks and a single, and Alan Trejo hit a sacrifice fly to tie the game, sending it to extra innings.

Express relief pitcher José Ruiz (1-0) took the mound in the tenth and quickly shut down the Space Cowboys, retiring the side in order with a strikeout and two groundouts. His stellar performance earned him his first win with the Express.

With Richie Martin starting the bottom of the tenth on second base and McKinney drawing a walk, the stage was set for a walk-off. Foscue stepped to the plate and delivered a single to right-center, scoring Martin from second and sealing the thrilling 4-3 victory for the E-Train. The win gives Round Rock an early advantage in the series as they look to build on the momentum.
