Express Comes from Behind to Overwhelm Grizzlies

The Round Rock Express (65-44) scored 14 straight runs to defeat the Fresno Grizzlies (53-57) by a score of 15-7. 

The Express started shaky, falling behind 6-1 after two and one-half innings.  Starting Round Rock pitcher Carson LaRue gave up 4 runs (1 earned) on 3 hits, walked 3, struck out 2, and injured the first batter of the game so badly that he could not return. 

Relief pitcher Tanner Duncan entered the game for Round Rock in the third inning and gave up two runs before he found his groove.  Duncan (3-0) was awarded the win. 

Designated hitter Jamie Ritchie opened the scoring for the Express in the second inning with an RBI double.  Round Rock tied the game in the following frame with 5 runs, highlighted by Nick Tanielu’s three run home run.  The four-bagger was Tanielu’s 12thon the season. 

Fresno pitcher James Bourque replaced starter JJ Hoover in the fourth inning.  Bourque allowed the go-ahead run on a wild pitch, and allow two additional runs on singles by Jack Mayfield and Kyle Tucker.  Mayfield added a second RBI single in the following inning giving Round Rock a 10-6 lead. 

Bourque (0-1) was assigned the loss for Fresno, allowing 6 run on 4 hits in 2 innings. 

Ronald Pena followed Bourque on the mound in the sixth inning and quickly yielded 5 runs on 4 hits in two-thirds of an inning.  Alex De Goti and Jack Mayfield each had two-run double. A wild pitch by Pena allowed another run. 

Fresno managed one run in the ninth inning on a double by Jose Marmolejos.
