Express Shutout Baby Cakes

The Round Rock Express (12-8) shutout their division rivals, the New Orleans Baby Cakes (11-9), by a score of 2-0 to rebound from a deflating extra-innings loss the prior night. 

Starting Express pitcher Corbin Martin (1-1) pitched 5 solid innings, shutting out the Baby Cakes and earning the win.  Martin scattered 6 hits, struck out 6 and gave up 1 walk. 

Express relief pitcher Cionel Perez threw 3 untouchable innings of relief against New Orleans. Perez earned the hold by giving up only a single run and struck-out 2. 

New Orleans starting pitcher Hector Noesi (2-1) made only one mistake in 7 innings.  That mistake was a home run to Kyle Tucker ‏of the Express in the fifth inning. The homer was Tucker his 4thof the year and the game winner against the Baby Cakes.  Noesi was assigned the loss, allowing one run on 2 hits and striking out 12. 

The Express added an insurance run in the eighth inning.  A single by Myles Straw scored Alex De Goti from second base.
