Killeen outlasts Stony Point 21-14

The Killeen Kangaroos traveled to Kelly Reeves stadium on Thursday to play Stony Point Tigers on the first night of high school football in Central Texas.  Both teams started slowly, with the offensive lines causing worry for both teams.   But Killeen put it together in the second quarter with touchdown scoring plays of a 22-yard pass from Marcellus Johnson to Montego Muckelvaney and a 63-yard run by Isaac Tolbert.  Killeen took a 14-0 lead going into half
time.

Stony Point came out strong in the second half with a big kickoff return by Dom William, and a quarterback change of Donovan Rybachek for Dashun Horne.  Killeen bent, but did not break, responding with 86-yard touchdown pass from Marcellus Johnson to Montego
Muckelvaney.

The fourth quarter belonged to Stony Point with a 29-yard run by Dom Williams and a 1-yard scoot by Dashun Horne.   Turnovers killed, Stony Point drives giving it up three times.  Stony Point eventually ran out of time and Killeen returned home with a victory.
