Kyle Kubitza’s bat helps Express but not enough to top Sky Sox

Kyle Kubitza connected for his second home run of his first home series with the Round Rock Express.  The two-run shot gave the Express a 3-2 lead, but the Round Rock eventual fell to Colorado City in ten innings.

The Texas Rangers had acquired Kubitza, a third baseman / second baseman / leftfielder from the California Angels.   Texas immediately optioned Kubitza to it AAA team, the Round Rock Express as a member of their 40-man roster.   Kubitza is hitting  .270 on the season at Triple-A, and struggled in a brief taste of the majors last year.  But he has shown more in the past at the plate. Obviously, Texas was interested enough to use an open 40-man spot to add him.   Kubitza is an alumnus of Texas State University, and was drafted by the Atlanta Braves in the 3rd round of the 2011 amateur draft.
