Late Rally Falls Short

Express catcher A.J. Jimenez went 3-4 with two RBIs and a triple short of the cycle, but the Express fell short in a late inning rally.  The Memphis Redbirds (53-32) won 6-4 over the Round Rock Express (39-47) on Wednesday night at Dell Diamond.  

Ryan Rua started the Express scoring with a home run (2) in the fourth inning.  The Express bats were silent until the seventh inning when Ronald Guzman singled on a soft fly ball to left fielder, and the scored on an A. J. Jimenez homer (3).  Will Middlebrooks closed out the Express scoring with a home run (18) in the eighth inning. 

Marco Gonzales (5-3, 2.56) earned the win for the Redbirds, going 6.0 innings, giving up four hits and one run, while striking out six.  Tyler Wagner (1-7, 7.49) was assigned the loss for the Express.  Wagner went 5.0 inning, giving up four runs on  seven hits, giving up two base of balls, and
striking out four.
