Memphis top Express in Season Finale

Being a top notch Triple A Minor League Baseball team is a double-edged sword.   The team has tons of talent to win games, but their real purpose is to funnel that talent to their Major League affiliate.  Such is the case with the Round Rock Express when Major League Baseball rosters expanded
from 25 to 40 players on September 1st, and  the Texas Rangers have recalled INF Hanser
Alberto, RHP Nick Martinez, LHP Yohander Mendez and C Brett Nicholas.  This put the Express in a weaken condition in today’s season finale.  Also expect to join the Rangers after today’s game are OF Jared Hoying and INF Joey Gallo.

The Express fell to the Memphis Grizzlies 7-6 in the final game of the season.  The Express lead though the top of the eight innings, but couldn’t stop a four run rally by Memphis.  Standouts for the Express were Drew Robinson, who went 3-for-3, with a double, two walks and a stolen base, and Matt Duffy who hit two solo home runs in five at bats.  Doug Bernier who also when 2-for-5 with two RBIs.

It was great season!  See you in the spring!!
