Oklahoma City bring Blue to Austin Spurs home opener

A new Austin Spurs team stepped on to the court at the HEB Cedar Park Center to open the 2016 / 2017 season.  Unfortunately, the newness showed in missed passes and out-of-sync execution.   Only Jarell Eddie and Demetri McCamey returned from last year’s team, and Eddie spent most of the season with the Washington Wizards.  The team is chocked full of talent.  In addition to Eddie and McCamey, there are three assignees from the San Antonio Spurs (Davis Bertans, Dejounte Murray, and Bryn Foster) and one from the New Orleans Pelicans (Cheick Diallo).  But just like good home cooking, the ingredients must simmer for a while before the delicious flavors are developed.

Davis Bertans led the Spurs with 22 points, and up-and-comer Pato Garino followed with 18 points. The sometimes awkward Garino appeared all over the courts and showed tremendous potential.  Unfortunately it wasn’t enough as the Spurs fell to the Oklahoma City Blue 118-to-95.
