Repsol Honda posts fastest day 1 time at MotoGP Americas
April 22, 2017The Repsol Honda Team lead by Marc Marquez (#93) has enjoy good success at the Circuit of the Americas. In 2013 Marquez became the youngest MotoGP to gain the pole position and take the race in Austin. And for the last three years he has repeated the feat, having won in Austin and starting from the pole position. In total, Marquez has won the last eight MotoGP events in the US, four wins in Austin, three in Indianapolis and once in Laguna Seca.
Marquez was in strong form a the end of the first day of practice runs at COTA, posting the fastest time of 2’04.061. Recording the second fastest time of the day was Johann Marco of the Monster Yamaha Tech 3 team with 2’04.347. And following closely behind was Maverick Vinales of Movistar Yamaha MotoGP at 2’04.451.
The competition resume on Saturday with two additional practice runs and the Qualifying heat. The race is Sunday afternoon.
