Sleep Deprived Express Worse for the Wear

The Round Rock Express dropped a lopsided match-up against the Nashville Sounds on Sunday, 6 to 1.  The previous night the Express played a 15 inning marathon against the Oklahoma City Dodgers, wrapping up at midnight and putting the team home around 6am.  The anemic Express could only muster four hits against Nashville, and a solo home run from Drew Stubbs.  A lack-luster Michael Roth earned the loss, falling to 9-and-4 for the year.  Nashville starter Raul Alcantara looked sharped in five innings, allowing a season high one run.

The most interesting match-up that did not occur on Sunday was Express Manager Jason Wood against umpire Junior Valentine.   Wood was ejected by home plate umpire Valentine the last time the two met.  Tonight Valentine was calling third base.  Wood, who usually coaches third, left the honors to bench coach Gino Petralli.  Wood did make an appearance on the field when he contested a dropped ball by 1B Umpire Seth Buckminster.  Buckminster reversed his opinion but it was clear from the photographs that the CF Jared Hoying did drop the ball.  Sorry Jared.

The most color full action on the evening was the Latin American Heritage celebration.  Hanser Alberto celebrated like is was 1999!  Rock on Hanser
