Sounds Clobber Express
May 2, 2017The struggling Round Rock Express continued its troubles as they faced Nashville Sounds. The Sounds put up 40 batters who produced 11 runs on 15 hits. Conversely, the Express generate only two hits, a double, compliments of Drew Robinson and a single by Josh Wilson. Travis Synder got to first base on a walk.
Jose Valdespina (L, 1-1) was awarded the loss, going 2.2 innings and allowing seven runs on nine hits. A total of six Express pitchers took the mound, including, for the first time in Triple-A franchise history, a position player. Catcher Pat Cantwell took the mound the ninth inning. Cantwell struck out Chris Parmelee before allowing a home run to Matt Chapman. Cantwell recovered to retire two of the final three batters.
